An Audit of My Blog

I have written 9 posts since March. All of my posts were set by my teacher and moderator from a student blogging challenge website. I didn’t write any that were school based or on my own interests. I have had one oversea students/visitors that have gone on my blog. I received 6 comments from classmates and from the moderator (Miss W). The post called “Week 9: Doing My Best”, received the most comments (2) because I was being truthful and writing from my heart. I had the most fun making the post, “Week 8: Cyber Safety”, because I made a video on keeping kids safe on the internet. I didn’t change my blog themes often because I liked how my blog looked and wanted to show a consistent theme. I have 11 widgets, which is about the perfect number of widgets to use because I don’t want my blog to be filled with nonsense widgets that did not add value to my blog.

I had my friend, Gavin, look at my blog. His first impression was that my blog looked like a website for babies. He said that the things that caught his attention were the posts “Week 9: Doing My Best”  and “Week 8: Schooling” because of how I included everything in the survey onto a pie chart. He was distracted from the theme of the blog because of all the bright colors. He suggested that I keep my posts short.

I also asked my dad to look over my blog and see how it was. He said that this blog seemed too elementary. Pictures of the animals on top of the screen captured his attention, but the title of the blog and grammatical errors, distracted him from the blog. His suggestion for my blog is to double check the grammar before posting.

My mom’s comments were on the positive on the pictures. She actually liked the art. It was cute and showed my personality. Although she liked the leadership post, she suggested a brighter and less morbid story for a next story.

This Blog is Awesome!

There is a competition for the best student blog, and I wasn’t allowed to chose my own.  I was scrolling through a student blog list, and I saw one by a girl named Vivian.  It looks beautiful.  The pink on white looked vibrant for the text, and the white on pink looked pleasant on the background.  I think that this is a good blog because it also has thoughtful posts about her life and things she has interests in.  Help this girl win this contest because I think her blog is worth it.

Week 9 : Family Love <3

Write a post on one of the following topics

  • What makes a great family
  • A global issue you would like to help solve
  • My future
  • Visiting overseas

My choices are limited and I don’t want to keep you here all day long, so I am going to do the topic of “What makes a great family.”  I’ll actually do this post through a poem.  Before I show you the poem, I want to first talk about the subject of ‘family’.

Families should be people who are related to each other and love each other no matter what.  Some familes don’t even have to be related to love each other.  I think families are one of the best things in the world because they are the people who motivate you and help you through bad times.

The reason why I chose this subject is because I wanted to talk about something that was important to me.  My famliy is the best in the world and I love them very much.  Now without further a-do, here is the poem.

A Great Family

A family that’s great

has no hate.

A family that’s great

has love everyday.

A family that’s great

doesn’t care about the weight.

A family that’s great

doesn’t have any debate.

A family that’s great

has one amazing trait.

Love is that trait

and it is great.

Week 8 : Schooling

Week 7 : Leadership

Create a comic, poem or story showing leadership skills being used.

 

Amy looked behind her.  There were her friends Jackson and Tabitha following her slowly.  What are we going to do? she thought.  We are in this forest and

“Quiet!” said Jackson in a loud whisper cutting off her thoughts.

Everyone was quiet and listened very closely.  There was silence, then a loud bang.  A sound of a gunshot.  Amy felt terrified as she knew that they were still being followed.  She couldn’t move even as she knew that she had to.

“Run!” screamed Tabitha who was already running past her.  Amy started to run as soon as Tabitha passed her.  She looked quickly behind her and could have sworn that she saw a giant.

* * * * * * * *

Amy was breathing very heavily.  The trio of friends were waiting inside a large hollow tree hoping that whatever was following them would leave quickly and never bother them again.  They all knew that it was unsafe to go deeply into the forest, but they all wanted a little adventure.  Little did they know that it would be their last.  Tabitha couldn’t contain herself and started to cry.

“I knew we shouldn’t have gone into this terrible place.  I knew it!” cried Tabitha.

“Quiet!  You don’t want that man to hear us!” said Jackson who also seemed to have a worried look of his own.  “I know we shouldn’t have gone here and we should have listened to those people who warned us, but right now we have to only think about how to get out of this nightmare.”

“What do we do?”

“We escape.  You both follow me and as soon as we see an exit, don’t run until I tell you to.  OK?”

“Yes.  What about you Amy?”

“I will,” replied Amy.

“Then let’s go,” said Jackson who was already halfway out of the tree.

* * * * * * * *

They all slowly walked.  It must have been hours and they were starting to give up until Jackson said, “I see the end!  There’s the exit!”  There they all saw a gate with many scratches on it.  They all quickened their pace until they heard a loud bang.  Another sound of a gunshot.  “Run!” screamed Jackson.  Amy and Tabitha ran as quickly as they could but Amy couldn’t help but to look back.  She saw Jackson face to face with a giant man.  A man who seemed 10 feet tall.

“Jackson!” Amy screamed but continued running.  Jackson grabbed a long dead branch and hit the gun out of the giant’s hand.  He was able to hit the giant many times until his branch was taken by the force of the opponent.  Jackson was strangled and Amy watched as his body went limp.  She was out of the forest and watched from outside the gate.  The giant started running after her, but as soon as he tried to pass the gate, he disappeared.  Amy was so shocked that all she could remember was waking up in the hospital.  Amy told her story to the reporters and helped them report on the legend of the ‘Disappearing Giant’.

“He was a good person,” said Amy to the reporters.  “Jackson led us out of the danger and in the process, risked his life for Tabitha and me.”

“How do you see this man?” asked one of the reporters.

“He was a brave leader and my hero,” replied Amy.  “He risked his life so he could save others.  I remember running and looking at his face and seeing his confidence.  He must have known this was going to happen.  I know he did.  I’m sorry but no more questions for today.”

“But please let me ask another.”

“Fine.”

“Thank you.  What is your relationship with Jackson?”

“Oh.  Well, Tabitha was his girlfriend and… I’m his best friend and sister.”

A Field Trip to Catalina Island Favorite Memory

The Catalina Island trip for my grade (which is 7th) was really fun. Surprisingly though, my favorite part were the riddles. There was a counselor named Walker (not ‘Swimmer’) who had us wait for our boat before we went back home. A majority of us got really bored so we started to tell riddles. Some were hard and some were easy. Even after a whole 2 1/2 days of fun, the riddles were my favorite part. I don’t know why it was but I think it is because I just like riddles overall.

Week 5 : Memories

In your own words (not a dictionary) describe what memories mean to you and how they can affect people’s attitude, thought process, etc.

What are memories? Memories, to me, are pieces of your life that you remember, good or bad. They affect people because it can show how they grow up and what they like to do, etc. Memories are so important because they inspire us to keep on going, why we are happy or sad, and why we love someone.

Week 4 : A Picture Is Worth

I saw a video that was called “Sharing Creative Works: An Illustrated and Narrated Primer was made by Alex Roberts, Rebecca Roja, and Jon Phillips”. I was told to write a paragraph on what I learned so here it is:

I learned that computers are powerful tools that can create almost everything. The only problem is is that people can copy and steal your work. You use lisenses, though, to tell people what they could do and not do. There are different licenses like one that tells people that they cannot use your work for commercial use, copy or change your work, or whether they can keep your work and change it as long as they credit you back. There are six different licenses but they all have different meanings. They all tell what the viewer can do or not do with the work.
